Brisbane Airport’s New Runway

As part of the duplication of Brisbane Airport’s existing runway, PSK was commissioned to undertake a detailed environmental impact assessment to develop methods to treat acid sulfate soils when impacted by Asbestos Containing Material.

Haughton River Flood Plain Upgrade

Specialist Acid Sulfate Soil (ASS) consulting services were provided for the $514 million Haughton River Floodplain Upgrade on the Bruce Highway in Townsville.

Cairns Shipping Development Project

Silvana Santomartino (PSK Director) is a member of the Ports North Technical Advisory Group for the dredging works associated with the $127m Cairns Shipping Development Project.

Port Drive Upgrade

Services related to Acid Sulfate Soil (ASS) were provided for the delivery of the $110 million Port Drive Upgrade. The project included a 3.4km carriageway, bridge crossings and side roads from the existing Port of Brisbane Motorway.

Bruce Highway Upgrade

PSK provided specialist Acid Sulfate Soil (ASS) consulting services for the $800 million Bruce Highway motorway upgrade between Caloundra Road and the Sunshine Motorway.

Proposed Solar Farms

PSK conducted qualitative agricultural land assessments for three proposed solar farm projects located in Central and Western Queensland.

South East Queensland

Chemical Manufacturing Plant

PSK completed a detailed Stage 2 Contaminated Land Investigation at a 4 ha manufacturing plant in south east Queensland aimed at identifying soil contamination requiring remediation.

Iron (III) Hydroxide Precipitation Remediation

PSK was engaged to determine the cause of extensive iron(III) hydroxide precipitation within a 3.8 ha portion of land located within an environmentally sensitive area. The land was known to contain Acid Sulfate Soils.

Bulk Earth Works for Major Developments

An Acid Sulfate Soil (ASS) investigation was undertaken at a 25 ha site in south east Queensland prior to filling, which consolidated the underlying soft ASS alluvium and allowed the site redevelopment

Fertilizer Manufacturing Plant

PSK undertook a preliminary targeted contaminated land investigation at a fertiliser manufacturing plant to support an application to the Department of Environment and Science (DES) to remove an environmentally relevant activity (ERA), pertaining to composting and soil conditioner manufacturing, from the Client’s environmental licence.

Compliance Monitoring

PSK is current providing monthly compliance sampling and monitoring as a requirement of Construction Environmental Management Plans (CEMP) or Environmental Permits at various sites in South East Queensland. This includes compliance monitoring of groundwater, receiving waters, surface water, ambient dust, noise and vibration.
