HAUGHTON RIVER
FLOOD PLAIN UPGRADE

BRUCE HIGHWAY, TOWNSVILLE

PSK provided specialist Acid Sulfate Soil (ASS) Consulting services for the $514 million Haughton River Flood Plain upgrade project, located on the Bruce Highway in Townsville. The project involved construction of bridges, reconfigured intersections and 13.5km of upgraded highway pavement across the Haughton River Floodplain. PSK prepared the ASS assessment report, using data from over 110 boreholes and developed a liming regime for the project.

PSK was initially engaged by the geotechnical lead to complete the ASS investigation during the detailed design phase. PSK was then commissioned by the construction contractor to perform a number of specialist tasks to enable the client to meet the conditions of the Environmental Authority (EA) for the project.
