2020 ALGA INDUSTRY AWARDS WINNER: OUTSTANDING CONTRIBUTION BY AN INDIVIDUAL GOES TO DR SILVANA SANTOMARTINO
Congratulations to our Founding Director, Dr Silvana Santomartino who was awarded the Australasian Land and Groundwater Association (ALGA) Annual Industry Excellence Award in the category of ‘Outstanding Contribution by an Individual’.
A panel of judges reviewed nominations in this category against the following criteria:
a) involvement in advancing the knowledge of peers in the industry;
b) success in their role on a project involving land or groundwater contamination or remediation; or
c) success in advancing improvements to the regulations, practices and technologies, research, sampling, testing, assessment or remediation.
ALGA’s announcement today at the 2020 Annual Industry Awards Celebrations held via Zoom was received with great elation by the team at PSK.
Silvana was recognised for her work in Acid Sulfate Soils (ASS), specifically for advancing the knowledge of peers in industry and at universities, for working with the Department of Natural Resources, Mines and Energy (DNRME) to advance improvements to the ASS guidelines and for her decade-long contribution, with respect to ASS and groundwater treatment and management, on the New Parallel Runway Project at the Brisbane Airport.
ALGA was formed to provide a forum and identity for the Australasian contaminated land and groundwater industry, and to support the many professionals working in the field. Silvana is a proud member of AGLA and was thrilled to receive this award. She thanked the judging panel and committee members for the recognition of her work in ASS and her team for supporting her vision in PSK’s pursuit of excellence.
